A short Manifesto

Come scriveva Beatrice Warde, This is a Printing Office, Crossroad of Civilization…

As a designer and printer I believe that communication has a duty to improve reality. Letterpress is one of the tools I use to do this, not the only one but certainly my favourite. Words are important, that’s why I’m interested in them being readable and understandable, even when they don’t seem so.
What I strive to do is to make them visually effective, what I hope to achieve is that they hit the point.
The content I choose is intended to help refresh the reader’s mind, whether it is a poster to hang or a book to browse through. Without the cost limit being an obstacle. All prints are made using good quality materials, wasted as little as possible, and are sold at popular prices.
Many of the prints I make are by both well-known authors of the past and present authors with whom I have a relationship of mutual respect.
I also print texts proposed by others: publishers, authors, associations, people who have an interest in fixing their ideas on paper. In this case I am interested in finding points in common.
What I do not print is racist, fascist, sexist or simply stupid contents. And, of course, I am not interested in getting in touch with any of these categories.
I believe a lot in communities and mutual help: in addition to those of which I am already a member, the door is also open to others. Anyone who is interested and needs physical support for their ideas will find the right space here.
Owning the means of production, however, is not enough without the intention of sharing them. That’s why Goodtypes doesn’t just want to be a printshop but also a meeting place. Some friends, like Federico Demartini with his Bisticci and Fabrizio Falcone with Tazi Zine, are already at home. Others will come.
As Beatrice Warde wrote, This is a Printing Office, Crossroad of Civilization…
