Il trasloco
Quante cose possano accadere in poco più di un mese!
Una di queste è il trasloco del laboratorio dalla vecchia sede, nel quartiere di Niguarda, a quella nuova, all’interno della Super, Scuola Superiore d’Arte Applicata. Per fare tutto ho avuto bisogno di ripensare la distribuzione delle macchine fra il nuovo laboratorio e il garage. Nel primo sono andati il Grafix, i tirabozze già presenti e due relativamente nuovi: quello di Lucio e quello di Luigi.
Il motivo principale di tutti questi spostamenti è la nascita della nuova associazione, creata insieme a Lucio e Giulia, Pagina mastro.
Questa nuova attività, concentrata sulla stampa e la legatoria, prevede, oltre alla produzione e alla progettazione, anche una parte dedicata alla didattica, in collaborazione con la Super. Per questo mi è sembrato logico riunire in un posto solo i torchi più accessibili ai neofiti, mantenendo comunque il Grafix per la produzione.
L’obiettivo è quello di creare un laboratorio aperto al pubblico, in cui poter realizzare e stampare i propri progetti. Come alcuni spazi in giro per l’Europa che ho avuto modo di conoscere negli ultimi anni. Un modo per allargare, in maniera costruttiva, l’interesse verso la stampa e, tramite il quale, creare comunità. Più o meno come facciamo a Lettepress Workers – che infatti farà parte del progetto.
Ultima, ma non meno importante, la pedalina. Non l’ho certo buttata via, l’ho solo spostata nel garage. Qui, sotto casa, potrò usarla per tutte le produzioni su piccola e media scala, come le cartoline. Così nascosta sembra una stamperia clandestina, in realtà è un po’ come se fosse tornata a casa. Infatti, quando nel 2009 andai a recuperarla con Novepunti, era proprio in un garage.
Adesso si può iniziare di nuovo!
How many things can happen in little more than a month!
One of them is the move of the printshop from its old venue, in the Niguarda district, to the new one, inside the Super, Scuola Superiore d’Arte Applicata. To do everything I needed to rethink the distribution of the presses between the new workshop and the garage. Into the former went the Grafix, the existing presses and two relatively new ones: Lucio’s and Luigi’s.
The main reason for all these moves is the birth of Pagina mastro, the new association created together with Lucio and Giulia.
This new activity, focused on printing and bookbinding, includes, in addition to production and design, a part dedicated to teaching, in collaboration with Super. That is why it seemed logical to me to bring together in one place the presses that are more accessible to novices, while maintaining Grafix for production.
The aim is to create a workshop open to the public, where they can make and print their own designs. Like some spaces around Europe that I have visited in recent years. A way of constructively broadening interest in printing and, through this, creating community. More or less like we do at Lettepress Workers – which will in fact be part of the project.
Last but not least, the arab. I certainly didn’t throw it away, I just moved it to the garage. Here, under the house, I will be able to use it for all small- and medium-scale productions, such as postcards. Hidden away like this, it looks like an underground printshop, in fact it is a bit like home. In fact, when I went to retrieve it with Novepunti in 2009, it was right in a garage.
Now I can start again!
